York is the ghost capital of England haunted by over one hundred and forty ghosts.
MJ Wayland delves into York’s haunted heritage to uncover the city’s most haunted houses and strangest stories. Further more this book excludes York’s most popular ghost stories to focus on the hauntings that are less well known.
As famed Antiquarian William Camidge wrote of York in 1886, “most streets had their particular ghost, and many stories might be chronicled…whilst all the churches of the city were associated with ghost stories, many private and public residences also had an unpleasant reputation in the same direction.” Has little changed in York over the last one hundred and forty years since Camidge surveyed the city’s hauntings? That is for you to discover when you let this book be YOUR guide to “York’s Hidden Hauntings”.
